熟悉并列：看到并列标志时，能够先看右边，再向左找到与它同层的成分，并看清二者在句中的共同关系。
掌握翻译方法：根据中文表达和上下文，选择把连接关系译出来、省略连接词，或译出它在句中真正表达的逻辑。
01 如何辨认并列结构
并列结构，是把语法地位相同的两个或多个成分连接起来。并列项可以是单词、短语，也可以是从句或完整句子。辨认时，按照下面四步判断：
1、找并列标志：先找到 and、or、but、both...and...、as well as 等连接词。遇到连续列举时，最后出现的连接词往往还会连接前面的多项内容。
2、看右边是什么：从连接词右边开始，圈出它后面接的完整成分，判断它是单词、短语还是从句。
3、向左找同层成分：以右边的完整成分为参照，向左寻找与它处于同一层级的成分，不能只看离连接词最近的词。
4、验证是否并列：看左右两项是否共同受同一个词或结构支配；如果两边各自是完整分句，则看它们是否处于同一层级。简单的并列做到第三步通常已经能够判断，第四步用于最后复核。
总结：先看右边，再向左找同层成分，最后验证两项是否真正构成并列。

短语并列

判断：arrange... 与 get... 是两个动词短语并列。
从句并列
circumstances seem to be designed to bring out the best in us, and if we feel that we have been “wronged” then we are unlikely to begin a conscious effort to escape from our situation.
1、找标志：找到连接词 and。
2、看右边：右边不是只有 if 从句，而是 if...then... 组成的整个条件句。
3、向左找：找到 circumstances seem to be designed... 这一整个分句。
4、验证并列：左右两项各有自己的主语和谓语，处在句子的同一层级。
判断：两个完整分句并列。
多层并列
按照阅读顺序，每遇到一个连接词，就用四步找清它连接谁。处理完一个，再继续向后读；全部找完以后，再看这些并列分别处在哪一层。

2、看右边：越过插入的 by its nature，右边是 shaped the character and destiny... 这一整个动词短语。
3、向左找：找到 built a nation out of a wilderness。
4、验证并列：built... 与 shaped... 共用主语 This movement，说明这场迁徙运动产生的两方面影响。
第三个 and
1、找标志：继续往后读，在 character 后遇到蓝色 and。
2、看右边：右边是名词 destiny。
3、向左找：找到同样作名词成分的 character。
4、验证并列：character 与 destiny 都是 shaped 的宾语。
最后再看层级：第一个 and 位于分词短语 driven by... 内部；第二个 and 连接主句的两个谓语；第三个 and 位于第二个谓语的宾语内部。
特别提醒｜省略共同成分
并列项有时不会重复共同成分。阅读时，把共同成分分别带回各项，可以找准 and 连接谁；翻译时，中文需要时再把它补出来，避免漏译。

2、看右边：右边是 of personal expression 这一整个介词短语。
3、向左找：找到结构相同的 of thought。

判断：英文只写一次 freedom；翻译时把它分别带回两项，译为“他提倡思想自由和个人表达自由”。
